Call for Participation
The 2016 IEEE Conference on Norbert Wiener in the 21st Century ( 21CW16) will host a free half-day Doctoral Workshop for students on the afternoon of Tuesday, 12 July 2016. All Masters and PhD research students attending the main 21CW16 conference are invited to participate in this Workshop. Attendance will give postgraduate research students the opportunity to network with senior conference presenters and participants in a supportive environment prior to the conference.

What is the Doctoral Workshop?
The Doctoral Workshop is a forum designed to provide postgraduate students the opportunity to discuss – in a friendly and supportive environment – their research approach and any research challenges they are facing. This is relevant for postgraduate students both at the beginning of their research and at an advanced stage.
Who can attend and participate?
All students registered to attend the main 21CW16 conference are welcome to attend the Doctoral Workshop; presenters must be PhD or Masters research students.
How much does it cost, and how do I sign up to attend?
Admission to the Doctoral Workshop is free to all students registered for the main 21CW16 conference; however, you need to register your intent to attend by emailing the Doctoral Workshop Chair, Philip Hall (philip.hall@ieee.org).
How do I sign up to present?
6 positions are available for postgraduate students to present submissions at the Workshop. Submissions should relate to the student’s area of research, be in English and between 2 to 4 pages (excluding references) in PDF format, and structured as follows:
1. Aims and Background;
2. Significance and Innovation;
3. Methodology; and
4. Questions and Issues.
Submissions are to be forwarded to the Workshop Chair, Philip Hall (philip.hall@ieee.org) by 31 May 2016. You will be notified by 6 June 2016 if your submission has been accepted for presentation at the Workshop.
How will the workshop work?
Selected students will have 15 minutes to present their submission (typically a power point presentation), followed by 15 minutes interactive commentary with the Doctoral Workshop Panel.
